Makan Split ("we", "our", "us") collects the following information when you use our service:
- Phone number — to verify your identity via SMS OTP
- Name — to identify you in team splits
- Receipt images — to parse items for bill splitting (processed temporarily, not stored permanently)
- DuitNow ID — to facilitate payment collection (optional)
- Payment proof images — to verify transactions between split participants
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and operate the bill-splitting service
- To verify your identity and authenticate your account
- To facilitate payments between split participants
- To calculate and award reward points
- To send notifications about split updates
3. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase (hosted on AWS). We implement industry-standard security measures including:
- Row-Level Security (RLS) policies on all database tables
- Encrypted data transmission via HTTPS
- Secure authentication via Supabase Auth
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:
- Split participants — your name and payment status within a split
- Twilio — your phone number for OTP delivery via SMS
- Supabase — infrastructure provider for data storage and authentication
5. Data Retention
Split data is retained for 30 days after creation, after which it may be automatically archived. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Withdraw consent for data processing
